Above: Look how far we've come!
Since we are celebrating the birthday of our beloved Mustang, I thought I would reflect on my personal car and speak a few words about it. I truly believe that we develop a personal connection to our vehicles over time, no matter what they are. All cars/trucks have a personality. So here are some thoughts on my Mustang.
To my Mustang,
I first saw you on Craigslist, priced at $5,000. The day I saw your listing I was on the edge of giving up my teenage dream of owning a Mustang until I saw you. The only thing I could afford in my small budget was a dinky V6, and when I went to see them they we're utter crap. But you were different. There you were, a 4.6 Liter V8 Mustang in my favorite color, Blue. Sure, you we're missing the faux driver side scoop, needed a paint job, had no air conditioning, and most of all were an automatic. But I knew I needed to have you. I can vividly remember taking you for a test drive and knowing completely that you were my car. I got out with a huge smile on my face which didn't help in the price haggling, but I didn't care. I drove you home as Bob Seger's "Mainstreet" played, and felt like the luckiest kid in Texas. Sure, I got pulled over 3 times on my way home due to how past due your inspection was, but that was ok too.

I finally got you all fixed up, Air conditioning, side scoop, and paint job. You were gorgeous!
From this point, (In the words of Dido), "I just want to thank you.":
Thank you for making everyday enjoyable when I get behind your steering wheel. For not judging me when I belt out A Great Big World's , "Say Something", or when I break down and cry when the day has been just too much for me to handle. Thanks for letting me push you to the limits at the drag strip, for giving me a way to get around, and for always waiting until I safely got home to let something break down.

I got my first speeding ticket driving you, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Even though you have an automatic transmission and are considered a "woman's" car by some people, I'm incredibly thankful you're my car. We've spent 4 1/2 good years together and you're still going strong getting me around college, with no signs of giving up. I look forward to what the future brings! Thank you for being my car.

The Ford Mustang is truly an American icon, and continues to prove why it's the original pony car. Happy 50th Anniversary Mustang!

I thought I would add my blue mustang which is also automatic. Mine taught me the meaning of the power oversteer.
